Accommodation
4 stars Hotel, preferably in the center of Porto, or alternatively, easy and quick access to the city center.

Personal care and weather conditions:
Porto and northern Portugal have a mild and temperate climate, but the nights can be cool and there is some probability of rain.
Bring with you what you need to wear and personal hygiene, but with moderation.
Comfortable, light and fresh clothes for the day and sweater and coat for the nights.
A lightweight raincoat can be useful. It’s easy and cheap to get an umbrella in Porto.
One or two pairs of very comfortable shoes is essential piece.
A cap or hat is important to protect from the sun.

Photographic equipment:
Anything you want to take/make photos.
However a good Dslr or mirrorless camera with a wide-angle zoom lens and a tele zoom guarantee you enough coverage for all situations (I have a Panasonic Lumix G9 with a 12/50 & 50/200 zoom Leica lens). A good tripod is essential for night photography or weaker light conditions. Filters, whatever you want (I use a polarizer).
Alternate batteries, a portable disk for backup and/or a laptop (whichever you think best) is very important. Light socket adapter (preferably a universal model) for those coming from outside Europe. Good mood and joy and desire to have fun. A smile receives in return many smiles.
